Minibus Hire For 22 Year Old

Im 22 years old and I have a Full Clean Driving Licence which I have held for 2 and a half years. I need to hire a minibus with a minimum of 7 seats. Every where i have searched has a minimum age of 25 years. Does any one know if there is a company in london or essex who will hire to a 22 year old i dont mind paying an excess.

Some companies on Ebay offer Landrover Discovery hire with seven seats. I am not sure about age limits but it may be worth a look.

The only thing I can suggest is try the local council, as they will no doubt have minibuses for transporting the local scallywags around to themeparks to encourage them to behave!!??!! They usually are in charge of the local school minibuses also.

You will almost certainly have to take a minibus test through the council (this will be similar to the MiDAS test and is not actually an official test as such so you won't get cat D1 on your licence) enabling you to drive the minibus on your car licence - as long as it is for a voluntary organisation and you are not driving the minibus for hire or reward.

Although no-one will actually know if you get given a crate of beers for doing all the driving!!!

maybe  if you have your own insurance for your own vehicle, you could phone them and ask if they would insure it for you instead of the company your hiring it from??

The Insurance regulations of the hire company will often have either an age of 21, or 25 Policy.

You may also need D1 Entitlement on your licence, but if you're not charging or running a service to the public, then it is not always needed. (applies to 15 seats or more)

I think what you are after is a 'People Carrier'. If it is not available to you, then it may be another option, to consider hiring 2 separate vehicles.

I'd contact the London/Essex company to see what is available.
