My fiancee and I have decided to not invite my stepdad to our wedding. He has caused a lot of problems in my life due to his controlling behavior and rude attitude. I ruined my sister's and I's childhood and we cant stand him. He doesnt support the wedding and doesnt think it should happen. My fiancee doesn't like him either and we decided he is not coming. My mother is upset about our decision so she is basically telling me that he has to come because he is her husband. What do I do.

  1. I would suggest letting him come, but only for your mothers sake. And if he starts acting rude and everything, just ask your mother to leave. She might understand.

Or ask him to leave and let your mother stay. that way there might not be any problems with your mother about it.

    Also,

Just tell her how you feel.

  2. Don't invite your mother either.

If not inviting your mother is not an option, suck it up and invite your step-father.  When you do the introductions, introduce them as the mother of the bride and her husband......(not your step-father).

  3. This might be a huge mistake. Your mom might just not come if her husband can't....

  4. Know this situation all to well :0I  First, I would send the invitation to your mom with Mrs. _____ and guest.  If this has any chance of being a happy day, just let it go at that!  I wouldn't introduce him as your stepdad during the reception though.  When the parents are being introduced have the dj announce Mrs. ______ , mother of the bride escorted by her husband Mr. _____.  Enough said.  I believe a title is just like respect, it need to be earned.  If he doesn't act like a stepfather should to you than I wouldn't agknowledge him as such.

  5. You should tell her how you feel.  It's your wedding, so you don't have to invite someone if you feel that they aren't supportive.  Good luck :-D
