Mon Ami Gabi In Las Vegas?

If youve read my earlier questions... i was trying to find one nice place for me and my boyfriend to have our "fancy" dinner in las vegas. Were not exactly high rollers... so i wanted to keep it at 300.00 at the most for both of us. This should include appetizers entrees dessert and a bottle of wine.

At first i was leaning towards alize or aureole.. but after everyones answers.. i feel we may come off as cheap there and it may be a little s****. for our taste..

I did a little research on "mon ami gabi" at the Paris restaurant.. and im really impressed. I actually already made a reservation.

Do you think this place will be TOO casual? I do want it to be on the nice side. Is it a romantic place? I really want this to be a special dinner.

  1. Mon Ami Gabi is a fine restaurant. It's bistro-style, so it's not "fancy" -- but it's not exactly a diner, either. I try to go to lunch there each time I'm in Vegas, but it would not be the highlight of my trip. If I were to try to make it romantic, I'd get a table outside or near the window and watch the water show across the street at Bellagio.

I was able to get out of Aureole a few years back for $250 for two without wine, but I will likely not go back. It was a decent meal, and the atmosphere was nice -- more upscale hip than s****.. But it was not worth the money.

If I were tasked with taking a date for a really good $300 meal, I'd consider Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill at Caesars, Bradley Ogden (also at Ceasars), or AJ's Steakhouse at the Hard Rock Hotel.

  2. GREAT choice!  I've been to Aureole, and, though it is truly a very wonderful experience, we walked out of there $500 lighter.  And this was about 7 years ago, so I'd imagine it's more expensive now.  I didn't feel it was worth it.  Yes, a bit s****..

Mon Ami Gabi is like a tradition Parisian bistro.  Not too expensive, and you can get a table that looks out over the Bellagio fountains.  A varied menu, and the feel of the place is quite romantic and authentic.  The food, whether it's seafood or steak, is fantastic.  It's not typically casual, and you could dress up if you want to.  In Vegas these days, you're always going to see someone in a T-shirt and jeans at even the best restaurants (unless there's a strict dress code).

Call ahead and tell them it's a special occasion and see if you can get a table towards the windows overlooking the fountains.

Cheers!  Wish I was headed to Vegas----I've got the fever!!!!

  3. From personal experience, this place is not too casual, but if I want a "fancy, romantic" dinner with my boyfriend and had a budget of about $300.00 I would go to Delmonico's instead. You should be within the budget; I think each time I've gone, I've been able to pay for the meal (appetizer, wine, main course & dessert) + tip with $300. It's a fancier place than Mon Ami Gabi and I like Delmonico's food a bit more. The main downside is that there is no view here since the resturant is located inside of the Venetian hotel.

  4. Mon ami gabi is very uncasual , very busy, not so romantic, but the food is pretty good.

The best would be "mix ", on the 64 th floor of the mandalay bay, very romantic and quiet, they have an a la carte menu as well as tasting menus, you can eat for 300 $ there including tips and a glass of wine, check it out !
