Mondeo Rear Heated Window

Hi all. since i bought my mondeo 1.8L (96) the rear heated window hasnt worked. i dont think its the fuse as the light goes on and it clears slightly at the bottom of the window. Please help. thanks for any advice.

  1. Could be the wires that go from body to tailgate have parted. If not try cleaning where the brass pins contact points on the lower panel inside the boot


  2. Get windscreen insurance (if you already have it check the policy to see if it covers rear windscreens). If your policy covers rear windscreens get a hammer & a police report... Claim off the insurance.. new screen & working rear demister...

    Although that would be insurance fraud & if found out there could be a little bit of trouble...

  3. problem could be a bad earth which just needs cleaning or the problem could lie with the element which is built into the rear glass.

  4. If it clears a little at the bottom it's not the fuse. There must be a break in the elements somewhere.

    Element repair kits are O.K as a quick fix. If you can find the break, but the only real cure is a new rear screen (expensive!)  

  5. the heater element is broken.Look for a break in the element and paint over it with special paint available at motor shops (Halfords)

  6. you will need to fix the element

    if you look very closely there will be a break in the wire

    where someone has scratched the wire and it has lost contact
