Okay I'm going to Russia soon and I wanted to know what money I should take. I was thinking 75% US Dollars and 25% Rubles. I have £200. How far will £50 worth of Rubles get me? What can I buy? Should I take more?

  1. It is easy to get money from bank machines and you will find you get your best exchange rate from them. Be sure to tell your bank that you will be using your card in another country as they may freeze your card if you do not.

Have fun and be sure to do your research about the country before you go as there can be a few things you should be careful of.

  2. if you go to big city like Moscow or StPeterburg,

the prices are higher then in USA, so you

won't get too much on  ÃƒÂ‚£50. And - if you want to pay by cash, you need to have rubles. And even though, a lot of places out there are taking credit card now, it is more convinient and safe to pay by ruble (plus - it will come out cheper)

  3. I would suggest to you that you exchange only enough to get you by at the airport, because their are many exchange places that have much better rate of exchange.

I would  also tell you to exchange everyday if you want except  on Sunday will be hard to find but I would suggest you exchange on Saturday to get you through till Monday.

As far as credit or debit card they will work but you are paying a lot of extra fees like international rates, bank fees and etc.

  4. First you need to know that by Russian law, businesses can only accept rubles, so you'll have to exchange all of your money for rubles once you get to Russia. Either exchange your pounds for rubles before you leave for Russia, or right after you get there. Note: you will not always get the most favorable rate at the airport.

50 pounds will not get you a lot; but you haven't said where you are going or whether or not you have a place to stay. If you are going to a big city, you will need this amount for spending money each day, more depending on your spending habits. 50 pounds is about 1200 rubles. You can easily spend this each day on meals alone.
