Monitor goes blank randomly

Viewsonic Optiquest Q91b 19'' LCD monitor goes blank. Power light goes off. I unplug 120VAC from monitor. I plug it back in and display is ok again. Sometimes I can get it back by just jiggling the plug at the monitor. I have tried a new 120VAC power cord and get the same negative results. The power cord plug is a female D connector.Will a defective internal power supply act this way or is it truly a connector mating problem?
