Mono amp help?

how would i hook up two 12inch subs with 2 or 8 ohm to a mono amp?

they are 1000 watt rms a piece

How big of an amp should i get too?

1000w rms per...  hmmm   Rockford makes the t20001bd amp, which would work well.  i would stay away from ebay, personally.  And ma audio, whoever that is.  but the question really is this - if youre getting into really high end audio (over 800 continuous watts of power)  you gotta ask yourself a question punk - do you feel lucky?  haha anyways you really should seek the professional advice of a local shop worth its salt.  Youre getting into a whole 'nother ball of wax stripping away that much power from your sound system.  And you gotta learn the ropes kid - cheaper is not better, especially when it comes to electronics.  you probably wouldnt buy a 350 dollar gateway at a pawn shop if you were planning on playing games all day every day, right?  or buying a kia rio to take to the track?  real power costs money.  if you understand this, then i am preaching to the choir.  the only reason i believe you wouldnt understand is the fact that youre asking about how to hook up a couple subs in series or parallel or both to a mono amp and the fact your subs cleary want 1000w a piece and asking "how big" you should go on an amp.

um.  a 2000 W rms @ the ohms you will wire them too.  Lower ohms is better cause 2000W at 8 ohms will cost over $1000 in amps.  one amp would be fine but a cheap one that will pound is a MA audio class D.  Look on Ebay there are a lot of them.  I have one and it is great.  Also if you want more power they are strapable. meaning you can hook up 2.  Im sure a true 1200 W RMS will be plenty.  If you get an amp this big you should also install a 1 farad cap per 1000W suggested but not required.  It depends how you wire them up.  MA amps are usually good to 1 ohm no problem.

if you want to hook up 2 subs you probably shouldnt get a mono amp. it can be done but wouldnt recommend it.i always recommend rockford amps

You will need an amp capable of 2000wrms at whatever the lowest ohm load you can get, the only problem with adding that big off an amp is you will have to upgrade the charging as well, new battery, high output alternator and so on.

You need to acheive a 2 ohm load to the amp.Mono amps are designed for usnig at lower ohms such as 1 ohm and 2 ohm.More of the mono amps lean closer to achieving their max power at 1 ohm.Depending on what ohms your subs are, will determing if you can even run your subs at 2 ohms.(or less).
