Monterey and Sausalito?

I am going to San Francisco in september and wanted to go to Monterey and Sausalito.. can anyone please give me some ideas what to do there to make it really memorable? This will be my first time in san francisco.

Well - I suppose it greatly depends upon your interests. I can mostly speak to Sausalito.

There are a lot of art shops and a few tourist shops in Sausalito. If you venture beyond the tourists area of Sausalito, you might visit the Bay Model. Perhaps visit a new eatery for locals name "le Garage". If you like dog stuff, a nice little dog and cat boutique is across from Cafe Trieste. Check out the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce site for more info - they have a nice map online.

There is also a Segway tour which is available for Sausalito. Another fun sporting option is going on a Kayak tour.

You can take the Blue and Gold Ferry from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito (it takes about 35 minutes).  A very nice, reasonably priced restaurant, Horizons, is located there on the water.

You'll need a car to go to Monterey and there is a heap of stuff to do there. Sausalito can be gotten to by ferry from fishermans wharf and its a lovely little township so spend a day just walking around a having a look
