Question:

Monteverde composition?

Hi all.

I heard a Monteverdi composition on the rodio the other day and the presenter said that the song is a good choice for a wedding. I suppose that would apply to lots of the compositions? I just loved the one I hear and was wondering if anyone could suggest names of his work so I could try and see if I recognise it?

It's for use at a friend's wedding

Thanks so much

  1. Monteverdi composed many madrigals - nine books of them - and one of the most well-known is "Cruda Amarilli" - maybe this is the piece you're looking for...

  2. Monteverdi song for a wedding... I suspect it might be the final duet between Nerone and Poppea that ends his opera, L'incoronazione di Poppea. The name is 'Pur ti miro'...

    Try this www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiU9alaW_v8

Or you can try going to www.namemytune.com and hum the bit of it you can recall and see if others can identify it for you.
