I have a provisional licence and ive passed my CBT test and been riding now for about 3 or 4 months. Im 17 next week meaning im allowed a 125cc bike, do i need to do another test or can i literally just upgrade? Also the same question goes to driving on the motorways and carrying a passenger. Cheers

  1. If you took a 'Twist n Go' (automatic) CBT, you will need to take another on a 'Geared' 125cc bike (manual).

You will still have L plates, unless..

Pass your Theory test and your Practical test and you can then go on motorways and carry a 'Pillion' passenger.

Edit: I think you would have to take the CBT again on a 125cc. Just phone your old bike school and check tho.

You definitely need to take your theory/practical to lose your L plates, and then you can go on motorways and carry a Pillion.

There is also a minimum speed/Bhp to go on a motorway, and i don't think 50's qualify.

I would hang on with the 50, earn a 'No Claim Bonus' off your insurance and get your full bike license done (restricted to 33Bhp for two years tho). In 9 months you can get a 'proper' bike that can handle 2-up riding and breeze along a motorway :)
