  1. Less

  2. 3/4 equals 6/8, so 5/8 is less than 3/4.

  3. I'm assuming you're looking at electric motors, based on rating.

Be aware that some vendors (not naming Sears in particular, but they started it) GROSSLY exaggerate their HP ratings by listing "Peak" HP -- i.e., the rating just before the motor stalls and burns out.  Obviously you are not running your equipment at this point.  To have a 6.5 HP motor running on 120V 20A circuit just defies the laws of physics.  Just like their wet vac can't compare to a 600 HP diesel fire pumper in terms of water moved -- unbelievable.

1 HP = 748 Watts.   Assuming a 100% efficient motor (i.e., no loss to heat, friction, resistance, etc.) this means a 120V 1HP motor would draw somewhere around 6-7 Amps.  Practically speaking, a 15 Amp motor will have a continuous load somewhere around 1.5 HP.

Long story short:   They lie, they all lie, even the little ones.   Ignore HP, compare Amps.
