  1. hi im only 13 and i managed to get on varsity and its fun so hope you can get on. but a nice way to bet more distance is to let yoyour hips start ur down swing. fire your hips through your swing and you should get more distance on your irons and woods and keep your knuckles down on your downswing for more distance on your irons

  2. You dont want more power, you want more club-head speed ... big difference. Don't worry about being a little guy, Tadd Fujikawa is on the small side, but can bomb it. Two things you can do to increase the distance of your driving. 1, increase your club-head speed. 2, lengthen your driver. I have actually tried both and I used a 47.25" driver (standard length is 44.5"). If you want to increase your club head speed, what I would do is at the top of you backswing (to start you down swing), clear your left side (make sure you dont sway, but rotate your hips to the left). What this does is start you hands moving down a lot faster than if you started you down swing with a shoulder turn. Takes a bit of practise, but it is one way to do it.

    Good luck.

  3. I would concentrate on finding more fairways.  I'm going to guess you hit the ball fairly straight.  That is fine.  It's always easier to hit from the fairway than the rough.  I'd rather hit the ball 240 and in the fairway than 320 and in the rough.  Concentrate on chipping and putting.  You can save par more often that way and par is always a good score.

  4. Before we get into hitting the ball further, don't worry about being small for your age. I am 6'1" now, but I was one of the smallest guys in my freshman class. In two years you'll be towering over the freshmen.

Now let's get to your golf swing....

there are two things you need to do. First off, you kind of have to think about a swing in the same way you throw a ball. If you don't take your arm back far enough, it's next to impossible to put much power behind your throw. A big shoulder turn with your arms extended is essential. Have a look at the pros and how far they take the club back. They're really winding up - which translates into more distance.

The second thing that creates power is holding back with your wrists on the downswing until the very last second. Again, if you look at the pros during the downswing, you will see that they snap their wrists through the ball at the very last second. Their hands may be down near the ball, but the clubhead is still somewhere up near their hips. That last split-second snap of their wrists creates enormous amounts of clubhead speed.

I've included a link of Tiger's swing in super slow-motion.

Check out how he keeps his arms extended, turns his shoulders completely, and waits to release the clubhead until the last second before he just fires through the ball.

Lastly... even though most golfers pay bazillions of dollars to get an extra 5 yards out of their clubs, accuracy is every bit as valuable. Don't play with your swing so much that you gain 30 yards but totally lose control of where the ball is going. You'll kick a lot of butt during a lot of matches and wear down a lot of opponents just by being accurate.

    Hope this helps,
