  1. The rotation of the drum opens up an inter-dimensional portal into which stray socks are drawn. somewhere, on another plane of existence, there is a large pile of argyle, dress and athletic footwear.

  2. well i think the machines are getting revenge since we ALWAYS make them do the work, so one night, when everyone was asleep, the washing machines banded to together in the local laundromat and decided that with all the work they put into the laundry they get to take something out. They decided on socks, since they are the smallest and no one would catch on to their evil plot of sock swiping. They then tear your sock to shreds in anger and turn it into the lint that attaches itself to all your favorite sweaters. *sigh*

  3. Well, everyone KNOWS that when clothes are in the dryer, there is a fierce battle raging because the clothes all have different opinions on who the main clothing god should be, and so, to keep the peace, one sock sacrifices itself to all gods. That's my story and i'm sticking to it

  4. the dryer is a gateway to another world...much like rumspringa for the amish...where socks must decide if they want to live a life shoved inside a smelly shoe and never be lonely or a lonely life of freedom doing what they want when they want, but having no one to share they good times with or no one to be there to support them during the bad times!

  5. All dryers are like transporters. Unfortunately they can only transport very small single items and only to other dryers. So that single sock you find may not even be yours. It could be from Asia or even another world or dimension. It could even be from another time. It's amazing what static electricity can accomplish!

  6. Maybe there is a sock monster who gets hungry and always eats one sock !

  7. Hmmm...

Well, I think the dryer gets ticked off you're always using it. (Maybe I do intend a pun here...)

So, when it sees a lonely little sock, separated from its mate by a big old t-shirt, it gobbles it up, leaving you to wonder days later where your sock is. And what  you do to clod the air vent to the dryer again.

  8. because the past owner of the house only had one leg and died in the house so he magically made the dryer fit for a one leg man so no-one else would move there

  9. Because socks are really alive and love to see who can eat the most asleep socks and the one that wins usualy explodes and becomes lint and that's the reason you cant find one.  And its a fact!
