Motivational Issues...?

I lack motivation when it comes to doing anything. How can I change this? Can motivation be learnt? I've not learnt it in all my life, I seem to have lost it without a trace.

  1. I have the SAME problem. it's horrible and always regret it.

you really just have to be hard on yourself. don't let yourself get distracted, not even for a little bit. tell yourself that you can do whatever the h**l you want AFTER you're done with what you need to do. use the reward system as well.

  2. alright. picture this, what do you see yourself doing in ten years? What is your dream job? What kind of house do you want to live in? How much money do you want to make?

Now, with that said, how are you gonna get there? You have goals, you have dreams, but are they just gonna come in time?? No! You're gonna work hard and fight for what you want. And you cant be a quitter no matter what.

So whenever you need some motivation, just think about how far its gonna get you in time. grades matter, careers matter, and so on and so forth.

everything and every choice you do and make right now, is all just one big tutorial for your future, so take it the right way.

if there's one thing that always motivates people, its knowing they have a dream and they're willing to do anything to reach it.

      hope this helps

  3. I haven't solved that problem yet I usually just do whatever the h**l I want and the next day I do the same.

  4. Jessica has told you how to go chase a dream, but in order to do this you need to build yourself a propulsion system.

The question you need to ask yourself is not 'what motivates me?' but 'how am I motivated?'  Do you require a good kick up the *ss, or do you need a reward?

The two basic methods of motivation that people use are:

    1) drag heels until the last possible moment, then either not bother if the consequences of not acting are nil or think - if I don't pull my finger out here, terrible things will happen - I'll lose my job, I'll get demoted, etc, then act and ride the shock wave.  The propusion system in this case is moving away from something horrible.

    2) Think from the outset - if I do this, then I'll get this, this and this - new stereo, holiday, etc.  So the result is a reward, and the propulsion system is pulling you towards something good.

If you're clever, you'll use both of the above methods to build an advanced propulsion system, and by a combination of shock and reward, move towards your dreams.

  5. I can't give an answer but just some experience

    1) I have noticed that more people today want the money but don't want to work

    2) If I find a boss to be weak, it annoys me. It has done this to the point that I'm self employed because it was demotivating me to being told to do something in a stupid way.

    3) You need 3 things to motivate people

        i) Resources

        ii) Communication

        iii) Training

Take any one of those away and motivation drops.

    4) Being in a rut reduces motivation. Changing job sends motivation through the roof but competence in the new role is low so you need a good manager to help with confidence.

  6. first of all you have recognised that you have an issue, second the next step to take is an easy and simple one, whatever you are comfortable with, then thirdly recognise this and reward yourself for doing it, then keep on doing this and you will find that you will get motivated and you wont know you are even doing it.

    good luck!

  7. I'm the same, unless its something i really want to do, so you need to decide whats important to you then I feel you will motivate yourself.. I don't think it can be learnt.. You will get it back when you think of something you really really want to achieve.. Its getting  back on the ladder thats the hardest once you've done this it will be easy to keep with it
