  1. As the tips get thinner the prop will actually be getting smaller in diameter but you will not be able to see it since it is so gradual. But you will be using more fuel as the prop will be less efficient. You should pull the prop every year and have it checked at a prop shop. There it can be rebuilt as needed.

  2. If you have any question about your prop, change it. You don't want to be out on the water and have it fail. Thinking about that, have the old prop rebuilt and carry it on the boat as a back-up.

  3. when they get too thin they start to break or bend at the edge. have a prop shop rebuild it for you. they have a template so to speak(called a block) to correctly bring it back to spec. I have used rebuilt props for almost 30 years now, and if your prop guy is a pro they work great. Beware some shops use plastic filler to build up props, others "clean" them up and do not build out to original dia, so each time it gets fixed it gets smaller and smaller. Talk to the repair shops(marine) they know who is the best in your area! others are right on always have a spare. carry spare spacers, washers, nuts and cotter keys too!

  4. If you are having doubts about your prop you should replace it and keep this one as a spare, it,s a good Ida to have a spare prop and nut anyhow.

when you loose or break a prop you are literally up a creek without a paddle.

  5. Show it to a Pro...might start to flex or warp.
