  1. The insurer will ask you lots of questions to assess the risk involved, such as where you live, details about your driving history and your age, the model and age of the motor cycle, how it will be used, the level of cover you are looking for and details of any other drivers, so it isn't really possible to give you a price, or even a rough idea without that kind of information, but if it is your first insurance, and you are aged under 25, you will fall in to a high risk category and unfortunately, the insurance wont be cheap and may come with a high excess. (An excess is what you have to pay if you make a claim).

It might be worth applying for a quote through an online price comparison web site such as www.confused.com as they will check many different insurers to get you the best deal, whereas an insurer will only quote for their own products. Whilst it usually works out cheaper to buy the insurance online, some people don't like shopping online, so if you would prefer, an insurance broker would also check many different companies for you.

I hope you get a good quote.

  2. there are way too many factors involved to tell you that.  the best thing to do is find the bike you want and call a local independent agent to get quotes.  they write for many different companies and can find you the best one at the best rate.  stay away from quoting online please!  contrary to above answer, they do NOT come in cheaper.  the QUOTE may be cheaper because they are not running any type of reports on you but once the policy is ISSUED they normally come back higher than the quotes.  Its ALWAYS better to have a local agent anyway, as you want a PERSON to go to who knows you and your needs and policies.  when you go direct through a company you will NEVER get the same person twice.

  3. I pay $75 per year for my states basic PL/PD for a '81 YamahaXS1100, from Progressive. They have a reputation for being a very good mc insurer and you can get quotes and do business with them on line.
