Question:

Motorcycle tire protection plan?

by  |  earlier

I bought a motorcycle 2 years ago brand new. I also bought their tire protection plan that would protect me in case I got a nail in my tire.

See, the first bike I owned got my tire punctured twice within 6 months. For bikes it's recommended you get a new tire instead of repairing it. It got rather expensive. So I though sure maybe I should get this plan for new bike.

Well what do you know, now that I have the plan I cant even find nail on the street. Just my luck. My tire is actually almost completely bald.

My question is does the plan cover worn out tires or only tires with nails. If not can I just hammer in a nail? I know it's cheating the system but I want my money's worth. Are they able to tell you just hammered a nail in? Is there a way I can make it look like I really did run one over?

please help.

  1. If you want your moneys worth, just keep running it till it blows out, instead of trying to s***w the company that you voluntarily did business with. Thank you

  2. Nope, they won't replace a new tire for you.  You've maxed out your used of the tires.  Personally, I wouldn't buy tire protection plan.  It is just waste of money, you can shop around for rather inexpensive (quality of course) and take it to independence motorcycle shop and have them install half the cost of the "stealership".

  3. You're outta luck.  You gotta have at least 50% tread left on your tires (maybe more with some places) for them to honor a road hazard warranty.  With your tires being almost completely bald you can do whatever you want to your tire and they'll tell you to go away.

You're damned if you do and damned if you don't with road hazard warranties.

  4. It pays for hazard damage, like your nails.

Does not cover wear. Normal or not.

Putting a nail in yourself is kinda like buying health insurance, then shooting yourself to get "what you paid for".

If you don't think you're going to get your money's worth out of the contract, cancel it. Take the refund. Get your money's worth - what's left anyway.
