Fabio Coentrao has not been receiving a lot of playtime at the Bernabeu and Mourinho thinks that even though the Portuguese full-back is an exceptional talent, he has not been settling well with Real Madrid.
The Portuguese full-back, Fabio Coentrao, has been a part of Real Madrid since 2011 when he joined them and was trying to take Marcelo’s position in the first team.
Jose Mourinho added the Portuguese star in order to give the Brazilian full-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554, some competition and the technique worked out perfectly as the Marcelo started to perform phenomenally and Coentrao was benched.
However, even though Coentrao could not make a place for himself in the left-back position, Mourinho often played him in the holding midfield position, but he was still not able to make a name for himself at the Bernabeu.

After his performance with the national side, Coentrao thought that he might get a change in the Real Madrid first-team, but he was unable to impress the coach and Mourinho still played Marcelo in his position.
Recently, Jose Mourinho spoke about Fabio Coentrao and how it has been difficult for him to adjust at Real Madrid. While speaking about the Portuguese full-back, Jose Mourinho said:
“Coentrao returned from the World Cup, where he was the best left back, but showed a level that was not his. At Euro 2012, again, he was one of the best in the competition, but here, not yet. The club environment is difficult.”
Fabio Coentrao is definitely an exceptional talent and there is no doubt that he is being wasted at Real Madrid. There are rumours that the full-back might leave the Spanish champions to rejoin his former side, Benfica, during the upcoming January transfer
