Question:

Movie Themed Basement?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

My basement is divided into 2 parts. Each part will have its own theme. This question is on the Movie Themed part.

*This section will have a TV with DVDs on a rack next to it.

*We've found 2 old director-style chairs.

*We want to have those spotlights that stages use.

*Antique popcorn maker

Any suggestions for the decoration aspect? Any other ideas?

Also, please check out my other question on the sports themed part if you can. Thanks!

  1. buy some velvet fabric and drape it on the walls to create a real movie theater feeling.

  2. How about a faux concession stand?  What I recently saw was a cabinet that held the DVDs, but the doors in the front had glass false fronts that tilted out and held candy in boxes.  It looked like a concession stand display.

I would also consider hanging heavy red or burgandy drapes on each side of the TV, movie theater style.

Try putting up some classic film posters like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, and Some Like it Hot. Or put up new ones and your favorites.

  4. You should get film reels, too. Make it seem original and imaginative. And a red carpet!! Not like a full-carpet, like the strip carpet like at the Grammys and stuff. The rest of the floor can be wood or w/e. Cool idea, though!

  5. Nice framed old movie posters.

I also saw a few things at Bed Bath & Beyond that would

work for you, one was a metal movie reel wall hanging, also

one of those board thingys with writing that they slam the bar

on top of and say "cut" (sorry i can't think of the name).
