  1. I think you will feel most comfortable in Delhi. The population is not less than other cities, but density of population is low and you have wide open, tree lined roads and good infrastructure. Since now the buses run on CNG and so do the autos, the pollution has also come down considerably. Being the capital of the country, also makes it cosmopolitan and lively.

  2. What is your age group i.e. are you retired or would you still want to work, if so that would be a factor to take into consideration.

Budget: Real estate prices in India have shot up astronomically in all areas, so that would be another major factor.

Language: Which Indian languages are you familiar or comfortable with.  That would be another factor as its only Mumbai / Goa that are truly cosmopolitan with BLR and Pune being a not so close second.  BLR and Pune are getting very overcrowded nowadays unless you move just out of city limits, even as far as Lonavala.

Be prepared for daily power cuts in Maharashtra excepting Mumbai.

If you are Gujarati, there are many satellite areas of Ahmedabad and Baroda that are rapidly developing.

Chandigarh is a good smaller city if you are basically North Indian and Hyderabad / Coimbatore / Mysore are also good, likewise if you can relate to the South.

Overall, if you dont mind year round warm, humid climate, Goa is a good bet but inland, not near the beaches.

You could always scout around Coonoor / Ooty / Mahabaleshwar  if you want pleasant all year weather but not too far from a main city.

Cantonment areas of small towns are usually cosmopolitan.

You would ideally need to spend at least a month visiting prospective places after you have narrowed down your choice.    Check magicbricks.com  for real estate listings. Good luck.

  3. I think amongst the major cities , Bangalore is the best. If you want a medium sized city, consider Indore. There are many colonies coming up in the outskirts of the city, where pollution is less. Indore is a business centre, called Mumbai of MP. Climate is also good.

    All the best!

  4. Pune is the best. good small city and close to the big city of bombay
