Hi,

Just researching possibilities of my girlfriend, currently living in Canada, moving over her to England with me. She's been stressed by her family and job and just wants to be with me. She's such a hard worker and I trust her it's not just to bum here for a while, it's a perminant thing.

I am aware about fiancee visas, but the other types confuse me.

we're Both 20.I'm in my final year of University + I have a part time job. She's a qualified Beautician from Nova Scotia

Cheers

  1. So, just plonk her on a flight and get her over here. You can sort out the visa and her belonging while she's here.

Also you can get her a 2 years working permit, until she has the full visa.

    Good luck!

  2. its up to you guys to sort out what you want. Visitor visa is probably easiest, it will last 6 months, and you both might see how this goes. But she will need to return by the set date. She will have no funds, so you will need to pay all the bills, like NHS if she needs services.

Fiancee Visa is also short term, you need to PROVE the relationship to the British counsul in Canada and you need to show that you intend to marry within a year, I think it is.

The other visa's dont look likely, a work visa she will need an employer to sponsor her.

A student visa is for an approved HE course, she would need to pay those fees as an overseas student, unless again you will pay her fees!

YOu dont say how long you have been together or if you both intend to settle in the UK.

    Hope this helps

  3. ur gf is very luck. hope u guys wrk it out and can be happy.

  4. Get her a work permit and get her over here. She may not command a big wage as she probably does in Canada but if she wants to be with you thats got to be a plus. Surely you can sort a long term visa out if you both decide to stay in this country after you finish Uni. Must say though that if you can get work in Canada it will be better paid than in England
