Read this site as it has loads of FAQ on moving to the UK from the States, hope it helps and the move goes smoothly.

  2. You are moving from Texas to the UK ?  Are you crazy?

This is a tiny overcrowded Island ruled by a power crazed despot in Downing Street.

Traffic in London moves slower now than it did in Victorian days. If you happen upon Hyde Park, Hampstead Heath or Regents Park just realise that these are public parks not someones back garden in Texas. This winter everyone is going to be wearing 3 sweaters to keep warm  because our energy bills have just rocketed. Our petrol costs 3 times what you pay. Dont drop a candy wrapper in the street or one of the local council gestapo squads will fine you $160.  Dont hit an old Lady over the head with a baseball bat or you will get fined  $20.

Welcome to the birthplace of democracy (pity it died about 40 years ago).

PS  about moving your Bank Account, just post your pass book to HM Treasury, Whitehall  it will save a lot of trouble, as they will end up with most of what is in it anyway.
