  1. Stay clear of Langworthy, Irlam o'th Heights, Ordsal, anywhere off Liverpool Street, Weaste it's been getting worst around them parts.

    Salford quays nice but expensive

All the blocks of flats near the uni have security officers in them.  We had no trouble there.

  2. I've worked in Salford at various places for fourteen years now although I don't live there.

You are right some parts have bad reputations and being blunt about it, not entirely undeserved bad reputations.

Salford Quays is an area of massive regeneration and in isolation is quite ok. Unfortunately it is not in isolation and you are not far from less desirable areas which puts the Quays within easy reach of lowlife.

Salford university itself has taken over a few of the old tower blocks in Salford and they are now entirely student accomodation with security and secure grounds. It might be worth looking into them. A couple are right next door to the police station at Pendleton.

Perhaps also extend your search to Swinton, it''s still within commuting range of the university, should have some housing within students price range but it's a better area than the more inner city districts of Salford
