Mozilla Thunderbird setup

Question

I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird but I cannot figure out how to set up Thunderbird to access my MS Hotmail and Gmail accounts. Thunderbird Help is no help at all – it doesn’t even address this issue.

1. Shouldn’t I be able to do this through the Thunderbird New Account setup without installing additional software?

2. What should I enter in the Thunderbird New Account setup screens for IMAP, POP, SMTP, and so on?
