  2. Just type in Mount Saint Helen's and read it.

The last big eruption was in 1980--it is now putting out masses of magma and building a new dome.

  3. Mount St. Helen's ecology is improving since it massive eruption in 1980. It also gave us a better idea what could survive  a catastrophic event. Only a few weeks after the eruption before plants even could start growing rodents were seen on the slopes. They figured out that they had borrowed and that protected them from the eruption. They brought up seeds and mix them with the ash. The birches made root and started to add nutrients to the dead soil. Slowly the ecosystem has started to recover. The first evergreen trees have started to grow and the elk have returned.
