So I woke up this morning to the sound of my 3 year old banging pot lids together, playing Schubert's 8th Symphony...clear as day. I suppose it's never too early to start professional music lessons. How shall I supplement her lessons, though? She's pretty good at ID-ing the most fundamental of classical pieces, but I'd like for her to get better at identifying the individual instruments within a piece as she hears them. For instance, she often confuses the cello and the bass, the flute and the clarinet. Besides Peter and the Wolf and Little/ Baby Einsteins, is there a program that helps develop listening skills?
I should probably add that although it seems as though I may have high expectations for my pre-schooler, it is she that never stops asking questions. I'm having a difficult time keeping up with her burning desire to learn!
