Muslum rape victims being outcasts.?

Question

Is it true that Muslum woman that are victims of rape are shunned by their family, are made to feel that they were at fault. Why? Are Muslum males that are raped shunned? Why not?

Can a Muslum person please tell me?

i've heard the same thing..at least in muslim societies because theyre hard core sexist societies...i dont think it applies to muslims in secular societies though...

I think that all societies need to work on punishing those who commit rape.

The problems in Islam arise from nations that abide by Sharia law; while committing rape is punishable by death under sharia, the flipside is that one man's word is worth two womens'.  Because of that, a woman can accuse a man of rape, and if says that she beguiled him into having s*x with her, then she's dead.  Predominantly Muslim, but largely secular, countries like Egypt and Turkey have markedly fewer problems than countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, but they still have a ways to go themselves.

What you state in your question is totally true and a woman getting raped very often constitutes a reason for "honour killing" as they call it - a member of the family, say the female's brother, will stone her to death.

This happens not only in Muslim (world)cultures but in some other cultures as well.

They say the victim is not fit to associate....

One thing that should be pointed out is that until the US can get rid of its dependency on Middle Eastern oil and being a slave to Saudi Arabia, nothing will change. It is precisely this dependency that is keeping this corrupt royal family in power so they are free to oppress their own people.

It is a male dominated society and religion, to paraphrase the US Preamble,  by the male, for the male, and of the male.  

Women exist to only to serve the man, keep his house and bear his offspring. Culturally, they have no other legitimate purpose to exist.

Women who are raped are considered at fault for being in a location or situation where the rape could occur. Remember, they are not allowed the freedom to roam about like western women.

Yes, even progressive Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia still sentence women to death for being victims. Two weeks ago AP reported a Saudi woman being sentenced to death for witchcraft. A man alleged she bewitched him and caused him to become infatuated with her.

PBS recently aired a documentary on Iran publicly hanging a 16 yr. old girl who reported being raped when she was 11 yrs. old, by a 57 yr. old man. Her crime was s*x outside of marriage. The man received 40 lashes for adultry.

1/3 of the women in jail in Saudi Arabia, didn't comment a crime they were raped and accused there rapist.  If a woman accuses a man of rape, she must find FOUR male eye witness and get a confession out of the rapist. other wise she is the one who ends up in jail.

based upon there culture I would imagine that they belief that males cant be raped....so a male that is better keep his mouth shut for his own protection.

I watched a documentary where they said this was true.  There was a man who killed his sister becasue she was raped, he was set free and had no remorse for what he had done. in an interview he stated that he didn't feel bad for doing it, and that she had shamed her familyand that her death was the only way to clear his family name. he also said that this was a common occurence, and that when a woman is raped, it is usually her father or a brother that kills her.
