Question:

Mute signal for car hifi

Hello!
My car radio has no mute function but the phonemute. Now I want to put in a button to activate the phonemute without connecting a phone to the radio. Can anyone tell me what kind of signal the radio needs? Is it just 12V DC on the phonemute connector?
