My 1222e is frozen

Question

I haven't used it in a long, long time. I remember that the IDT handle has to be up but I don't remember which way a Pfaff wheel is supposed to turn -
forward or backwards? The manuals don't say. What do you recommend as a cleaning agent/spray or lubricant?

Second problem is that the red on/off swith on the right body has caved in - no springy action. The power does come on. How do I get to that area to take a look?
