Question:

My DOG IS BLEEDING. WHAT ?

by  |  earlier

My dog tried to eat my cats cat food in a can and then I tried to take the can away and she was holding onto it hard with her mouth.

A minute later I accidently stepped on her foot I think and I heard a weird noise and afterword she went to hide under the table. When I went to see if she was alright I saw some blood on her paw and around her mouth. The paw blood may have just dripped from her mouth.

I inspected her paws and mouth and could not find where the blood was coming from (there was not too much blood)

ALL ANIMAL HOSPITALS ARE CLOSED UNTIL THE MORNING..

what do I do?

it is now 3 hours later and she will not budge from lying ontop of my backpack under my bed.

HELP.

  1. it is very easy for a dog to bleed from its mouth. And it's paw is probably just hurting. What i did when that happened to my dog, i let ice sit on its paw for a sec then i wrapped it in an ace bandage.

  2. BLEEDING????!?!?!??!!!! GET A VET QUICK!!!

Oh closed???? WRAP A TISSUE OR BANDAGE OR WHATEVER TO BOTH ITs PAW AND MOUTH!!! QUICK!!!!

  3. Find and emergency vet somewhere it can be very serious.

  4. No, not all animal hospitals are closed until morning.  There are emergency vets open 24/7/365.  Give one of them a call and let them know what happened.

  5. well is ur cat still there? jk did u step on it hard because that could have caused it. Is she walking? Or could have broken or hurt something. That's probably it she hurt  her foot or, well if u tried to pull the can away u could have cut something and that could be it to.

  6. Check her tongue, she may have cut it on the can.  Then you stepped on her paw.  She ran off and licked.  If it is the tongue it will be fine, especially if it has stopped bleeding.  Sounds like you guys are having a rough night.  Snuggle up on the sofa and love on her.

  7. Your dog may have two problems going on here.

She may have cut her mouth while holding on to the can...inspect her mouth for any cuts, and make sure she drinks water.

Her foot may also be broken.  Check to see if there is any internal bleeding on her foot.  If there is, call an emergency vet immediately, and watch her foot to make sure the internal bleeding (if there is any) does not spread.  Make sure she drinks plenty of water and eats regularly.

Check to see if there are scraps of metal in her mouth.  If there are, remove them immediately.

I hope your dog gets better.  Hope this helps!

  8. well you should take a cloth and wipe the inside of her mouth.

and give her some water. and call your vet in the mourning.

  9. if you are 100% sure no vet are open, try looking for the wound in case it gets infected, make sure she keeps awake, and call around to make sure whether vets are open or not.

  10. She likely cut her mouth. If she'll let you, wipe out her mouth with a cloth and give her just water until the morning. Cuddle her and make sure she show no other symptoms like shivering or fever. If anything worse happens, call your vet at home.

  11. what breed dog is she? she could have a compound or complete (bone protruding) fracture...or like you said, she may have cut her mouth. i would entice with treats/toys to get her out or i would get help, lift the bed, and take her to the Emergency Vet.

the longer you wait, the more traumatic it is for her and the harder it is for her to normalize even if it is a small injury.
