My Kirby G6 light is

Question

My Kirby G6 light is not turning on when I start the machine. I took off the front piece and removed a lot of hair from the roller and interior. Since I did that, the belt keeps coming off (even though it is fairly new). Is that the reason the light won't turn on? Is there any advice you can give me before I take it in?
