My amp just stopped?

I have a pyle 1800 watt amp and 2 12" sony xlpod subs

not the greatest combo but its ok for starters

and just the other day it was all working fine, and i didnt have the volume tourned up real loud or anything, and my amp just stopped, it didnt make a noise or anything, it just shut off and there isnt a red light nor a green light, but i know m gettin power cause my capacitor is still gettin power. Whats wrong with it?

  1. did you check the fuse in the amp?

    Pyle is notorious for cheap "throw away" amps and subs that only last a month or so (if you are lucky) if you were trying to get the most out of them

    their wattage is VERY over rated, you would be lucky to get half of the advertised RMS wattage and it would more than likely be distorted (distortion is the main cause of speaker damage), if you did not have enough wattage then the amp would have been working overtime trying to supply the necessary wattage and could have fried itself-- or your subs are wired at too low of an impedance (ohms) for the amp


  2. check the remote wire or ground. the easy way for a quick check it to jump the power to remote with a little wire or paper clip

  3. One of my amps used to do that. It had a safety feature on it that turned it off when it got too hot. Make sure that there is air getting to it. If it is in your trunk you may have to fix it somehow to allow it to cool down faster. If it's not that, then I'm not sure what it could be. You may have to send it off to the company to have it fixed. Check any papers you have for it to see if you have a waranty.
