Question:

My cat has a sore side?

My cat is only 5 years old and has never had to go to the vets (apart from their checkup and injections) before. However, my cat cam back from the cattery yesterday and was perfectly fine. It was very excited when it returned and was running around jumping on everything and meowing lots. When it came in later that day, it seemed to have quite a sensitive side and if you touched it, she meowed in slight pain. Its only on her left side. This morning when we woke up, we checked it and it didnt seem to bother her that much at all so we thought she may have just pulled a muscle due to being in a small kennel/cattery for the last 2 weeks and then suddenly going nuts when released.

Tonight, I picked her up as usual and she gave out a screech and now her side hurts again. We have booked her in to the vets tomorrow morning to have a look.

Obviously there is going to be very limited animal medicine knowledge here but do you think that it is more likely that my cat has just injured herself such as broken rib than suffering from an internal organ problem.

I was only thinking this because it seemed to happen very suddenly, she was fine when we got her back and it is only sore on one side. She is eating fine and I assume she is going to the toilet fine.

What do you think???

(sorry for being so long)

  1. Sounds like she's bruised her self quite badly when she was giddy. Cats mis-judge their jumps from time to time, or fall off of things like windowsills, especially when they're giddy, she might have landed on something. Probably isn't anything too serious.

  2. Hopefully, she just bruised it, but I would go ahead and take her to the vet in case she has a worse injury.
