  1. Since chalazions are caused by blocked Meibomian glands, you may want to think about prevention of chalazions in addition to treating them.

I have occasional chalazions.  I had to have two of them surgically lanced.  Not a pleasant procedure, as it involved injecting anesthetic into my upper eyelid area, then using antibiotic eye ointment for several days.

My eye doctor recommended using a cotton swab and baby shampoo to cleanse the eyelid area every night.  You can also use a product called "Eye Scrub" to cleanse the eyelid and eyelash area.   She also recommended not wearing eye makeup.

It sounds like the salt-water splashing is helping cleanse your eyelash area.  Be careful using a very hot heating pad to your facial area--it can cause capillaries to dilate and burst.
