has been pulling herself up on furniture and "cruising" for about 4 months....everyone keeps telling me i should help her walk, you know hold her hands and walk her around. My theory is that she will walk when she is ready i have never rushed her to do anything else and let her develop at her own pace i do hold her hands and walk her from place to place when it seems she wants some help otherwise i let her go.....she doesn't seem ready when you stand her up and let go of her hands she seems to get scared and sits down so obviously she isn't ready to walk.....whats you opinion?????

  1. Totally agree with Jenny and Tasha. My kids also learned at their own pace without too much interference by me. If they want help, they know how to come and ask, don't they! Enjoy this amazing time with your daughter. My kids are big now and it's great to recall those moments in history.

  2. I totally agree with you on that. I have 3 children and they learned to walk on their own. Infact they would get mad at me if I tried to help them...lol They will learn on their own at their own pace.

  3. My son didn't walk until he was 14 months old. Does that make you feel better? lol

  4. don't worry babies learn at different ages and aren't ready till certain times my fist baby didn't walk till she was well over a year and my second is 8 months and is all ready trying so I agree with you

  5. DO you have one of those push walker things? The ones that is a walker they push and can turn into a riding car later. As soon as I bought this my son started learning to take steps and started walking, this was the best $20 ever spent.

  6. Whats the different between cruising and having her hands held? She'll learn either way. You may want to get her a little push behind walker and see if she likes that.

  7. Lol, if you start holding her hands for walking she will break your back with the new fun trick she has learnt.

My daughter walked a week before her first birthday, son at 14 months. You are doing the right thing and letting her go at her own pace, it also leads to less head injuries!!!

  8. She might want to walk but be a little nervous about doing it alone. Be her coach. You dont have to be pushy, just be supportive. I started helping my daugher walk around as soon as she mastered sitting up. My daughter just turned 10 months and she is taking 4 or five steps at a time on her own before she sits down. Sometimes she even dives down like a crazy kiddo! Lol. Not complaining though, at least she isnt afraid to fall. I am positive your daughter will learn to walk when she is ready but showing her how to walk now isnt gonna hurt her.  Maybe it will get those wheels turning in her head. As soon as she sees that she can do it, she will. But coach coach coach!

  9. I never taught any of mine to walk. I was the opposite. I would run over and pick them up when they wanted to walk. They started walking just after 1yo. It was so sad.

Let her go on her own. She will soon walk and trust me, you'll wish she wasn't. lol!!
