My dog stinks so bad?

Question

i have a 3 y/o shizu and she stinks so bad. the day after i give her a bath, she just starts to stink again. shes an indoor dog so i dont know exactly why shes stinking so bad. also she has big purple and blackish rashes all under her armpits, and she always scratching her self... shes so miserable

what can i do. ive taken her to the vet but they dont really do anything

pleez help me, i just hate to see her so miserable

get her anal glands done that might help and also what food you are feeding her can affect her smell.

See another vet!  She might have an allergy.  It can make them totally miserable but it can be treated.  You may have to take her in for allergy shots or feed her prescription food.

My Scotty has an odor problem, also.  I'm not sure, how to remedy...  I bath him once per week and use little doggie cologne.  Just know, you're not alone!!  :-)

It is probably her anal glands.  You need to take her to a groomer or vet so they can squeeze the oil out of the glands as they are impacted.  YOu can also do it yourself if you want http://www.barkbytes.com/MEDICAL/med0029...

Also, the rashes could be hot spots or heat rash :( take her to a vet for that.

First off find a new vet.  If they are not helping you with her problems, then you need to find someone that will help you.  Second, you might want to get her glands checked.  It is not a pleasant conversation but a lot of dogs have problems with anal glands.  You bath them and next thing they smell again.  In the summer if she sweats a lot, you might want to keep her trimmed real short and keep her cool to try and prevent sweating as it will make her smell more and be uncomfortable.  The rashes might be from a reaction to soap or some kind of bites or mites or even an infection.  Ask the vet to do a scratch test on the areas and see what they find.  I have a scottie (and several other big dogs) and the little Scottie stinks so bad when she sweats.  I think the type of fur they have holds odors in too.

Aww I feel for you, I can totally sympathize with you I have a three year old male Shih Tzu and he has major allergies. My vet has him on prednisone which is a synthetic corticosteroid and a half tablet of benadryl to help with his itching, I can also tell you the more you bathe the baby that the worse her skin will get. You at this point need to find another vet but if you like you can email me and chat more maybe exchange photos of our babies.

Please see another vet! Why your vet would say nothing is wrong

is unbelievable, and wrong. There is a reason being it is not

normal for a dog to have big purplish/blackish rashes or for

her to be miserable and scratching! If you really love and

care about her, PLEASE take her to another vet! Thanks!

if you have already taken the pooch to a vet(i hope you did) to rule out a skin condition, then your ans is to go to your local pet store, they sell small little scent deodorizer bottles for your dog. i use these on my 5 small little dogs and they work great. make sure it says DEODORIZER.... This pleasant scents come in a variety of scents to choose from. this product will last for weeks. Please be sure she seen a vet as these products may cause irritation . They also do sell products for skin condition. Use these first before the scent products, to clear up her skin issue. hope this info. is of help. good luck to you,hope your dogie feels better after treatment...
