Question:

My dogs have severe diarrhea?

We have 2, 8 month old collies, a male and female. Last Fri. morning, the female first got the diarrhea. She has had it all weekend and still has it. The male got it yesterday. They are both throwing up and going diarhea every few hours. They have their Parvo virus shot and I know they don't have the corona virus. They never leave the house except when we walk them out front so they don't come into contact with other dogs. Can anyone tell me what they think? Or how to get rid of the diarrhea? We are taking them to the vet later today but I wanted some opinions first.

  1. my puppy has the diarrhea part, but not the throwing up part. it could be what they are eating. what do you feed them? what brand?

good luck, hope they get better(:

  2. try changing their food

certain things lose their touch on young dogs

such as milk or wet food designed only for puppies

try kibbles and adult foods with plenty of protein

  3. if youve recently changed food, thats probably it.

find anything that you might have changed in their eating patterns within the past couple weeks.

  4. It's going to die.

  5. Many things have the same symptoms, Giardia, cocidia, a vet will know for sure.  ASk him about pumkin after the dogs have been diagnosed. feed a bland  diet until you get there.  Good luck with both of them it sounds  serious enough.

  6. Could they of come into contact with some type of poison around the house or in your garage or shed? The vet will be able to help you.  xox

  7. Hi-ho, hi-ho, off to the vet you should go.  :)

I hope your pups feel better!

  8. I would put them on a boiled chicken and white rice diet for sure. Don't give them any dog food right now. Only the chicken and rice - keep doing this until the diarrhea is totally gone. When it is gone start putting a little of their normal dog food mixed in with the chicken and rice. Keep doing this - every meal just add a little more dog food and a little less chicken and rice. If they start to get diarrhea again then you need to go back a step and give them a little more chicken and rice and a little less dog food. Hope this helps! Good luck and good luck at the vet!

  9. Yeah, you deffinately need to go to a vet, my dogs had something like this and she had to do something with his anal glands or something O~o

and the person who says they're gonna die can go sleep in a hole tonight for giving horrible useless advice.

  10. It coudl be worms or it could be parvo. just one or two vaccinations dont' protect the dog fully.

Good foryou that you are seeing vet.. call and see if they can see sooner and/0r start giving pedialyte. no more food until vet clears it.

.  I have blog on parvo... here is the link for more information. Hope it helps for information. I certainly hope it is not parvo.

  11. I would have the vet check them for worms.  Some worms they can get just from being in the same spot as a dog who had worms went poo.

  12. VET!!!!!!!

  13. Did they get into something they weren't supposed to? I would definitely take them to the Vet to rule out something serious. This is your best bet.

I hope they feel better soon!

  14. Make a vet appointment right away.  The ongoing diarhea can make them dehydrated rather quickly.

In the meantime, give them canned pumpkin.  NOT pumpkin pie mix.  100% pumpkin.  You can but it at any grocery store.

Usually about 1 tablespoon for each 25 pounds.  It always works for my dogs but you still need to have them both seen by a vet.
