My eyesight is deteriorating...?

Hi I'm 15, and my eyesight has been deteriorating since i was 13. At 13 my eyes were at 100 degrees, and 14, 200 degrees and now my eyes are at 300 degrees and worsening.

I have an identical twin brother who basically lives the same lifestyle as I, and he has 20-20 vision so it cannot be in our genes that my eyes are worse. Plus we live basically the same lifestyles except he likes to play video games and I do not. So why then, are my eyes so crappy and still getting worse?

Ps. we spend the same time watching TV or on the Computer.

  1. What you do or do not do visually DOES NOT CHANGE the shape of your eyes- you could stare at a video game 24 hours a day with your vision getting no worse than it would if you never played a video game in your life.

As for why your prescription is changing rapidly, welcome to adolescence: all of you is changing rapidly. It will settle down in early adulthood.

  2. about 1 year ago i started getting horrible headaches, then I had to get reading glasses, so I only wore them every once in a while, now I can't see up close without them, and i'm getting horrible headaches no matter what, i too am 15 years old and I think that's the age when your eyes change the most.

  3. There's a difference between genetics and "gene expression". There's a lot of research being done on it right now, especially since so many identical twins turn out SO differently.

15 is a common age for eyes to start going downhill. Just see an eye doctor and don't worry about it. Glasses aren't the worst thing in the world (just look at my avatar - I look fine!).
