  1. It could be as simple as something breaking the beam between the safety stop monitors on either side near the bottom of the door railings, or it could be quite complex as the electronic circuit board in the operator at the top rear end of the rail assembly.  If it's not the simple one of just moving a stray object away from in between the safety stop monitors, you'll need to call your friendly (and costly) Overhead Door dealer to ask for a repair person to come out to find out and fix the problem.  Wishing you luck for having the simple one.

P.S. I might be that one or both of the safety stop monitors has gone bad.  That would be a much less expensive problem to have to pay for.

  2. Does the chain move at all?  If not the gear kit has gone bad this is a common problem.  Does the door go only a few inches?  If so there is something in front of the photo eyes.  Does the door travel a good ways and then reverse?  If so you need to increase the close force.  Does the chain move but not the door?  The door is disconnected from the opener.

These are the most common problems I see when fixing the doors.

  3. pull the button of the wall disconect the wires from the back.touch the wires together (really low voltage wont shock u)if it closes replace button if not check power, connections also check that the eyes are pointed to eachother

  4. broken spring or you pulled the red rope

  5. does it move at all ? if it moves a little then stops it is hitting resistance ,binding up or sticking. that is knocking off the safety the one that reverses it if an object gets caught under it.check the breaker ,look it over may be you will see something............tom

  6. Try to clean the infrared lights.

  7. first check the outlet and be sure you have power to the unit next take the wires off the button and touch them together if the door operates you have a bad button switch i am assuming that if your door has a laser eye at it's base you have removed anything that may be blocking the light beam across the bottom of the door if these checks don't work call a service person
