my guinea pig is 6 months old and some times when i hold her she bites me!!! is this normal for a baby guinea pig ???

  1. Till she gets used to you, yes.


  2. Guinea pigs are not known for biting. If she's nibbling you, thats normal, but a hard BITE is not. Do your fingers smell like food? Sometimes they can mistake your hands/fingers for food and chomp down before they realise its you.

    Another possibility is that your piggie may have mites, which can make petting painful & will cause them to bite. A trip to the vet for Ivermectin treatment would be in order.

  3. yes its normal definately if you have just got done eating something. guinea pigs usually dont bite but ANY ANIMAL CAN BITE. trust me i work at a pet store. but yea it is normal because they arent used to you and because apparentally you smell good to them
