My hamster..??!!?

Question

my hamster jake is always sleeping and his eyes are alway closed. and every so often he will take a step or two from where he is. (p.s. and how can i keep them cool in the summer besides ac?) he is a dwarf

Hamsters are kind of weird that way.  He's probably just dozing and is not sure if he wants to sleep.  It's fine.  And to keep him cool, keep him in a darkened room during the day, with the window open with lots of drinking water.  If he's hot you'll notice him drinking alot.  But again, hamsters don't move that much, so the heat shouldn't affect him too much.

buy a mini fan and hang it inside his cage,and put out cool water.cause it helps his body and its brain cool down.the exact thing happened to my hamster. but i then i bought a fan hung it inside his cage and then i refilled  his water bowl,then he was all better.hope it helps!!

hamsters are nocturnal they sleep all day. when he gets up and moves a few steps, sometimes they hide their food in their bed for when they decide to have a mid day snack! hes probly stuffing his face as soon as you turn away

i normally wouldnt recommend it but to keep him cool when you let him run around in his hamster ball b4 you put him in it you can put just a little bit of water on his back to help cool him off

Well, if he is sleeping during the day, that is normal. hamsters are nocturnal. If he is getting hot in the summer, I suggest taking a large glass jar, and putting it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.  Then put some unscented toilet paper squares in there, and place it in the cage. He should start sleeping in there to keep cool. =]

Don't worry Jake is perfectly normal. A hamster is a nocternal animal. That means that he sleeps in the day and is awake at night. To keep him cool you can put a fan around the cage. That will keep him cool.
