I bought a washing machine in jan 2006 it was used for 9 months then put into storage I recently moved then i set it back up but it wont work.

the water goes in but pumps straight back out within 30 secs, then the door lock led flashes with the anti crease, spin and rinse led and wont stop. I cant afford to relace it or get an engenier out,

I know its not the drainage pipe because its been adjusted or the belt because it will spin if put on spin cycle before the leds flash.

whats wrong and how do i fix it

  1. 2 Things worth checking. If this doesn't work out for you I would strongly recommend getting a service technician.

1 - Make sure that your drain hose is not too low down. It should sit into your outlet pipe and be kept higher than the level of the pump in the machine, otherwise your water will just come straight back out.

    2. If you have an electronic programmer as opposed to a mechanical one ( you will know a mechanical one because it clicks like a ratchet sound every time you turn it) try this.

UNPLUG your washing machine from the mains and wait about ten minutes to allow internal capacitors to discharge safely.

Remove the top lid of the machine (again check that is unplugged)

Look for a small reset device on the programmer (programmer is directly behind the wash cycle dial) sometimes this accesible with a ball point pen. If you can locate and press this it may reset the programmer to factory default.

Other than that, do call a service engineer.

  2. The important thing here is which lights are flashing- I know you said but number them from left to right. Then sequence the flashes. Are they flashing 7 times, pause them 7 times again in a continuous cycle? The number and sequence of flashes are important.

  3. Do you have insurance which covers your washing machine?

If not, some companies have a free call out and some deduct the cost of the call out from the bill.

Unfortunately it sounds like you do need someone to check it out.
