My iomega 80gb portable hard

My iomega 80gb portable hard drive has stopped being recognised by my mac.Have plugged it into a pc and the following messgae appears:WINDOWS-DRIVE NOT READYThe drive is not ready for use it's door may be open. Please check drive\device\hardisk\DR5. make sure a disc is inserted and that the drive door is closed.Will the info stored on it be lost? How can I recover it?thanks.
