My knees hurt a lot?

i'm 19 yrs old, and my knees hurt yesterday both hurted, but today the left one hurts more than the rigth one, my left knee looks crooked i have like a little bulge on top of my knee, and when i put them both together the left one looks crooked, i think i migth have knee osteoarthritris, has anyone gotten surgery from that? and does it hurt? how much is the surgery? how long is the recovery? do i have to wear a knee brace after the surgery? i used to do track and field in elementary skool and hs, i also did volleyball,softball,basketball,i'm also in this dance club in my college, i start skool sept 2, maybe i have damaged joints or tissue.

  1. It probably is osteoarthritis. You need to go in for xrays, and maybe a MRI. The xrays should tell you if there is any "padding" left between the joints. If it's gone, then you hav osteoarthritis.

    You probably won't need surgery. I doubt if the surgery hurts. If it does, you can take pain pills prescribed by the Dr.

    You probably can get by with physical therapy.......again as prescribed by your Dr.  


  2. You will need to see your Doctor and get referred to a Rheumatologist. You are a long way of knee replacement surgery if you do have the start of some arthritic condition. You can wear a knee brace now which might help. there are some good over the counter medications that you can speak to your pharmacist about including one called glucosamine Osteo arthritis generally appears as one gets older but there are many forms of arthritis which need to be ruled out or treated.
