  1. On the horse you should practice riding both without stirrups and also bareback, The squeeze that you'll do to stay on will help you strengthen your leg.

Off the horse you should do exercises to strengthen your inner thigh and groin. Try using a beach ball and squeeze it between your knees! You can actually get a specific exerciser for this I don't know what it is called, but it is for your inner thigh.

    Good luck!!

  2. Try lunging the horse on foot. Put a halter on the horse and make it walk, trot, and lope in circles. It improves it's stamina and indurance, it also builds muscle.

  3. when riding ride without stirrups at all gaits and especially posting and in the two point.

  4. Off the horse, there are many exercises that you can do. If you do not have a weight machine or anything like it. I would recommend doing wall squats.

That is where you put your back up against the wall and squat down into a sitting position. Where you knees make a right angle. Hold that for a 30 sec. Then release. Do 10 set of that. And work yourself up to 2 min. With reps of 10.

Lounges. Just do a lot of lounges. These will help with leg strength.

As far as on the horse. A lot of saddle time. Really there will be answers with many more exercises for when riding but it all translates to having horse flesh between your legs.
