  1. What i would do is get her involved in your food choices. Ask her if she knows any or where to find good vegetarian recipes. That would maybe open her eyes to your eating habits, and then she might take you seriously.

  2. Has she told you what would convince her that you are eating healthfully? Write that down and then demonstrate to her that you are doing that if you are.

  3. I think your mom is trying to say that you're not getting all the nutrients you need. Being a vegetarian is not just not eating meat, it is also making sure you change your diet to include the protein that you're not getting from meat. Eat things like beans, peanuts, almonds, soy, tofu, etc. Also try eating the many meat substitutes. You may find you like them. Good luck!

  4. Keep a daily log of what you do eat for a week and show it to your dr and ask if it is a sufficient amount and balence to keep you healthy.   If no $ for dr see if your local health dept has a nutritionist you can consult free or very reasonably.   The dr or nutritionist can also give you info for your ma on how complex carbs can replace animal protein.

Your log should include the name of the food and anything you add in with it (like cereal, 1 cup with 1/2 cup soy milk and banana or salad - spring greens mix 1cup,  green pepper 1/16 cup, cucumber 1/8 cup, green onions 1/16 cup, kidney beans 1/4cup broccoli 1/8 cup sunflower seeds 1/16 cup rye crutons 1/16 cup italian dressing 3 tablespoons.  nanchos (2 cups and salsa  1/2 cup. Black beans and rice 1 cup) etc.

It will help to convince mom if you will look up the nutritional value of the foods you eat.  (calories, vitamins, carbs, proteins, etc)  You may find a lot of this on the packages.   For other foods this may help http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Da...

See if your mom will go along with your eating style if the dr or nutrition expert says you are eating a healthy amount and balence of foods.

  5. I suggest you leave it alone. If you have tried several times in the past, just leave it. There is no need to waste energy on things that can't be changed.
