Question:

My periods are never normal ???

Every time i start my period, it lasts for a very long time 3 months...yes i know too long :[ and i lose way to much blood and i went to the doctors she took blood from me and said i have very little blood in my body because of losing way to much...so they prescribed me iron pills...is it alright to drink these? or will it affect anything? please help ??

  1. prescribing you iron pills will assist in your blood loss but I would be just as concerned about why your periods are lasting about 3 months.  My sister has a condition that causes the same thing.  She can go up to a year without a period and then has one that lasts for months.  It is called PCOS I would advise you to find out why you are having these types of periods.

Hi Anna, yes it is important to take these iron pills, the only side effect usually is constipation so they say, but having said that, when I was on them they made me the other way! which suited me down to the ground.  So you do sound like your anaemic after all the blood loss, thats why its important to take these tablets. You could always speed things up by having an iron rich diet too, i.e. red meat, green vegetables. Also its not normal to bleed for so long so I hope the doctor is going to investigate this for you

  4. it sound like u r aneimic and iron is the right thing to take.  u will be fine.  listen to ur doc, iron is good for u.
