Question:

My permanent resident card expired?

I just realized my permanent resident card had expired on the 18th of this month. I was naturalized two months ago and I have become an American citizen, although I didn't apply for my American passport yet. Here is the twist, I have a trip coming up on the 1st of September (next month), is there any possible way that I could make it on this flight? I also have my native passport.

  1. You should have given your green card in when you took your oath.  Given that you are now a US citizen, the green card is invalid.  You need to ask if your naturalization certificate can be used to get back into the US.  I do not think so but I am not sure.  Therefore, you need to get a US passport asap.  Go to the State Dept website for details of whom to contact.  But you might have left it too late.
