My projector?

the problem i've had with it was overheating, and i cleaned all the fans, but the problem will not go away. so i was feeling where it was getting really hot from and the lamp seemed to be overheating...

what does this mean?

do i need a new one?

  1. if its overheating and turning off it probably means the lamp hours have run out and for the projectors own protection its switching itself off it does this too avoid the bulb blowing and destroying the whole thing.check the lamp hours and replace bulb if its time is up


  2. The lamp will be hot. I doubt it is "overheating" unless the cooling vents are blocked and/or the fan(s) not working.

    You say you have cleaned the fans ... but does that mean the filter too? Finally, if the projector is on a soft surface or up against a wall or in an enclosed space it may not be able to get enough air to keep the temperature down.

    If none of these things are the problem you may have a bad sensor for the protection circuit ... but whatever, you need a service call.
