  1. first off....

original SVD don't have piccatiny rails, they'r Soviet, soviets still don't have RIS/RAS on most guns, you need a Dragunov type scope mount which grabs the gun like clav from the receiver. Google that.

    Second.

Don't expect for an AK to be accurate. They have bolts in the size of a forearm and really thin barrels which soviets designed to save money.

    Thrid

Get a descent scope. Since you are gonna mount it on an AK, you are going to need a heavy duty one that can withstand shock. They have them for Dragunov's which are standard for most AK's. You might get lucky and find one that comes with the scope mount, of course, it's not going to be cheap, and since you bought an SVD I don't think you'd wanna spend a lot of money. So,

Get a clav mount scope, AK, compatible, if you can one with rails. Than get a bushnell scope, you decide magnification. They usually have rigid stuff for a reasonable sum of money....

    I'll take my 10 points now....Thank you....

  2. Scopes are one of those things where you get what you pay for.

Determine your budget and compare to what the rifle is worth to you (may not be the same as what you paid).

Get the most expensive scope that makes sense from above.

  3. Take the gun to an gunsmith and get him to put weaver mounts  on the gun. The just buy a better scope, for a cheap reliably scope go to wal-mart and get a Tasco 3-9x40 its like $29.99 or something.

  4. nope, your scope is good, Just the guns scope mounts suck...

    CUZ THERE ARE NONE..
